I really like this alarm clock. The nature sounds are more pleasant in the morning than beeping or the radio. I turn the display completely off at bedtime and turn it back on in the morning using the snooze button. It has a battery backup in case of an electrical outage. The only problem is that the button to silence the alarm is difficult to find in the dark, so I placed six layers of blue electrical tape on it to make it easy to find.

Setting the time and alarms was very intuitive. No problems there. Some aspects of this clock radio are very nice, such as digital tuning and volume. Others are not so nice. The deep blue back light looks very cool but the contrast with the black numbers is poor and makes it difficult to read the time at night with the brightness turned down. The snooze button is perfectly located however the button to switch off the alarm is tiny and located in the middle of an array of buttons that are all the same size and shape, so difficult to turn off for the morning without picking up the radio and squinting to read which of the unlit buttons says "OFF". I am thinking of putting a dab of clear glue on top of the "OFF" button so I can tell the difference just by feel. Nature sounds are ok but I haven't really used them to fall asleep to yet. I replaced a Homedics clock radio with this one. The Homedics was very light weight and tall and the buttons pressed in sideways. That made it so the radio scooted across the table at a lighter force than what was required to actuate the buttons (except snooze). The Sony buttons all act vertically so there is no scooting around. I wish the big companies would put in the varsity squad when designing clock radios instead of JV. There are so many shortcomings in all the radios that any half-way experienced engineer would catch them in a heartbeat and get the marketing bozos to change the spec!Read full review

I love everything about the Sony Dream Machine, except the blue display, causes the numbers to blur. It's my eyesight that is to blame, but I can see other colors better. I just wish this clock had a green or red display. Other than that, I love it.

Sound is good alarm works good once you figure out how to set it, very confusing for an old man. Radio is smaller than I thought it would be. Back light is to bright in the bright position, lights up the entire room. Dim position is good for me but hard to see the time if half asleep I believe the process to set it is way to complicated

Battery backup, for electrical power loss, is inoperable. Bought two units and have similar battery backup problems on both. One does not acknowledge on the display that a good battery has been installed. The other does not acknowledge on the display that a battery has been removed.
