Seller Notes: “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For sale is this absolutely terrific late 19th c American ... “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For sale is this absolutely terrific late 19th c American antique Victorian black lacquered & enamel painted wooden flower box. It has sloped sidewalls & all 4 of the window box's panels are dec w/flower motifs. Water lilies & lotus flowers populate 1 long sidewall & roses or sm chrysanthemums dec the other side. The int of the window box is painted w/a burnt sienna enamel paint. The sidewall graphic iconography is completely hand painted & is nearly unblemished by deep abrasions, scuffs, paint loss or staining. This hand painted wooden flower box, now nearly 120-140 yrs old, has clearly escaped the ravages of time. The recessed bottom panel of the box is unpainted & reveals the box was constructed out of pine. The sidewalls are sloped & splayed outward, giving it a graceful & visually pleasing form. One long side panel features a vignette of water lilies, while the other sidewall features roses or sm chrysanthemums. In wonderful overall cond. Nice.”
