Over 100 years ago Louis Bougle needed a reel light enough and with enough line capacity for the new lighter rods of the time. So he asked Hardy and we came up with the superb, original Bougle reel. Since that first model was listed in our 1903 catalogue, the basic design has remained the same, though we've tweaked and improved it, so that this new Bougle incorporates all the best features of 106 years of Hardy reel making.
