Great choice for an electric foil shaver at this price point. Wouldn't expect 5-star for $30 to $40 bucks, but... what other features might I really need? Can't think of any! I actually got two 3000 series because I liked this so much, but be sure to review the specs for each model to be sure you get the one that works for you. This one has no trimmer, but can be used plugged in, so it should keep going after the battery gets worn down-- I leave it plugged in (away from water.) I also got a slightly different model with the trimmer which is waterproof, but can't be used plugged in. That one will be used for travel, and can go 10+ days without a charge. I don't even bring a cord when I take it somewhere. I think the 300 series has a slightly weaker motor and shorter battery life. My beard is medium light-- e.g., I can grow a full beard, and had a goatee for 5 or 10 years. I have heard folks with a heavier beard don't have as much luck with this shaver, but it works really well for me. I still have my late '90s plug-in, no battery Norelco rotary, and until recently, no electric could beat it. You won't catch every hair on the first pass, but I would never expect that from any electric razor. I figure maybe it takes me two minutes to shave, pretty quick. If you miss a hair for, like, three days and it gets pretty long? This shaver *can* cut it, but the longer the hair, the more passes you may need to make over that area. But you don't need to go to the trimmer first, which is great. Can't speak to its longevity, but another advantage of the 3000 series is that the replacement cartridges are not expensive. On a recent trip, my buddy was actually admiring this, particularly the grip, which is nicely textured rubber.Read full review

I have a heavy beard and it pulls the hair. I should have bought a rotary type blade razor rather then a straight horizontal type. For someone with a mild type of beard, it would be just fine. This does lousy on the neck area.

Full disclosure: I bought this shaver, which I have not yet used, as a backup to my Braun Series 1, which is no longer sold. Series 1 was the low end of Braun shavers, and now Series 3 is the new low end. I have been shaving with Braun shavers for approximately 40 years, always with the least expensive model. My experience has been a good to great shave with 10 minutes of work, the same amount of time I recall it taking with a razor blade (but with an electric shaver, I don't cut my face to pieces). As mentioned, I haven't used the Series 3 shaver yet, but expect it to give a good to great shave with 10 minutes of work. Maybe it takes less time with high-end shavers. If so, more power to them.

Gives a good close shave. No skin burn on dry mode. Easy to clean. Good battery life. Withheld one star because multiple passes are necessary to get a really smooth, "razor like" shave. Also, the ad can be deceptive. Leads one to believe that it has the trimmer included, but that's on a different model.

Works great - I replaced an old Braun I have had for years - this was cheaper than buying new heads for the old one. Shaves smooth, charge lasts for a week, a basis low frills great shaver. Ships fast, too!
