Identical to the ones that came with "C" rations. (for those old enough to remember them from the days before MREs became field meals.) I now have one on every key ring and a few spares for when they finally dull. Not something that you'd want to use every day as using a P-38 is work compared to using a standard can opener, but for camping, or when you aren't near the kitchen, it can become an ideal tool. It can be fun teaching the young ones how to work one! Also usable as a bottle opener, screw driver and numerous other tasks for which it can replace other tools. I've missed the P-38s, but not some of those "C rats"! (Anyone else remember the lima beans and ham that you couldn't give away to anyone who had eaten them before? I do miss the crackers with peanut butter, or cheese spread and the chocolates though.)Read full review

The P38 can openers are not completely finished because they wasn't cut to the tip they are blunt because I tried 4 of them and they wouldn't cut into the can lid so I had to finish out the cutting edge to the tip of the point and all of them are the same way so your machine isn't cutting to the finishing tip so you need to check your machine I'm not going to say anymore about it and I won't buy from you all ever again because I'm disabled I only have one arm and hand I can use and if it doesn't cut the lid I have to fight with the P38 to get it to cut into the lid and my old one I lost that is why I bought them from you !

I’ve got my original one in Basic Training in 1981. Had it ever since. Stays on my key ring. THE single best little thing you could ever have on your key ring. You would be amazed at how many things you can use this for besides opening cans, which it does excellently. I’ve used my as a screwdriver (flat tip and using the corner for Phillips screws), peeling oranges, prying open paint cans, opening boxes, and countless other uses. Same company has made them since World War 2, steel, very good quality. It’s very small and out of the way on your key ring and you’ll almost forget about it. But, the first time you use it for effectively for something besides opening a can, you’ll understand.

These are the real "Shelby" P-38's not the cheap aluminum ones that break when you try to use them. I keep one on my keychain and am happy I do several times a week. I recently found myself in the Montana Mtns with cans of grub and no can opener. (Planning is everything) The wife was a bit freaked until I whipped out my handy dandy P-38 and saved the day. Or at least supper. Don't leave home without one.

Just like the ones I used to open my C-Rats in the early '70s. These are well made, high quality, can openers. Will order some more to give to my Children and Grandchildren. If you are fed up with can openers that don't work, GET THESE!! Leave the stress, and expletives, behind. I promise you will not be sorry!!
