My wife and I have been a Nexus One owners for over a year now. We love it! There are indeed some quirks with the touch screen as others have noted, almost all of which are fixed by turning the screen off and back on. It has a solid metal construction and even my wife has not managed to kill dropping and kicking it around. The device is an almost perfect size. No screen bezel so the touch screen is easy to use. If you are at all into using mods that is where the amazing capabilities of this device get to shine. The hacking community for this phone is very active still and new features are released almost every day. Overall I like this phone a lot and would recommend it to anyone.
Finally received after a month long wait....this is day 2 working with it. LIKES: screen in just the right size for my fingers, so my typing accuracy is increased. Lightweight, not a chunky phone. Touchscreen is responsive and the camera is on point. DISLIKES : been charging this thing for 2 days out-of-box and stool hasn't fully charged...whaddahell?! I ordered this product "new " but so far I feel like I've inherited the same old battery life problem I had with my HTC Aria Liberty. The display brightness is set on low and still using 67% of the battery, but the screen only on when I'm touching the phone. All that BS aside, I am enjoying my new phone so far.
Pros: Very fast (compared to my apple 3g) Expandable storage Highly Configurable Removable Battery Message Indicator light (like blackberry) Cons: My biggest gripe so far is the lack of support for MS exchange. Froyo 2.2 does allow the phone to connect to multiple exchange accounts and view in an integrated inbox, but the email application has very little functionality beyond receiving and replying to the mail. For example, there is no sort, search, filter capability in the stock android email app. Additionally, there are no exchange email widgets availible yet. It is clear that Google has decided to put more development resources into builing out the Gmail email client then the regular email client. There are 3rd party solutions like k-9 and touchdown, but they do not allow for multiple exchange accounts in an integrated inbox view, which is what I am looking for. I used an application called Lockinfo on my iphone. It was my favorite app ever. Currently, there is no equivilent app either from Google or 3rd party. I hope someone comes out with something that allows all notifications to be viewed on the lockscreen (email, phone, sms, calendar,weather...etc). I also hope that Google includes more functionality in the mail client in future releases in Android. All in all, good smartphone. With a little more work on the corporate email front, it could be a great smartphone.Read full review
Great phone but beware of storage limitations for applications! You will run out of space very quickly unless you modify the phone's software to shift apps to the MicroSD card - which doesn't always work. I bought this phone to use with AT&T's GoPhone unlimited service and so far it works great - mostly. This phone runs well and can be updated to 2.3.4, has an excellent screen and processor, good camera (with dated interface) and above all has no add-ons or carrier clutter installed! The sound through headphones is excellent and the built-in speaker delivers despite it's size. For a two-year-old phone it does the job nicely. I'd recommend it highly for a basic user who does not have hundreds of apps.
Likes: advanced smartphone; runs applications fast; first unrooted android phone to receive the 2.2 Froyo update (nothing earth shattering, but some important features such as "update all" button for apps, advanced camera features); large screen but compact phone; nice weight (not heavy, but not too light, doesn't feel "plasticky"); 3.5mm headphone slot; camera starts quick enough to be used as a camera Dislikes: TMobile service in South Florida (not the N1's fault, just saying); the "soft buttons" under the screen are pretty awful, I have read that they are miscalibrated, try to get hard buttons; the soft keyboard is still poor at best, and even applications such as slideIT do not help that much, difficult to punch out more than a couple lines for email/texts without trouble; still has a trackball (hello 2003 technology!); changed power cords again (now it is micro usb) Overall, good phone. The camera is much improved and I can almost use this fully as my "swiss army gadget" that does everything. the only real issue is the actual phone/data service provided by tmobile. Oddly enough, works great in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but terrible across Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach. Constantly bounces from 3G to Edge to (sometimes) G!! Even 3G speeds are poor.Read full review
