Shot in Salzburg against the majestic Bavarian Alps, THE SOUND OF MUSIC is considered one of the greatest screen musicals ever made. Winner of five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director (Robert Wise), the film, based on a real family and their true events, tells the story of a young postulate, Maria (Julie Andrews), who, after proving too high-spirited for the Mother Abess and other nuns, is sent off to work as a governess to seven unruly children. The Von Trapp family is run, in military style, by the seemingly cold-hearted Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer), a lonely widowed naval officer. Seeing how badly he and his children need companionship, he proposes to the Baroness Schraeder (Eleanor Parker), a calculating, mutual friend of beloved family friend Max Detweiler (Richard Haydn). It is the baroness who soon realizes that it's Maria--with her warmth and love for the children--the captain really loves. It is nearly bliss for the newly formed family who loves to sing together--except for the cloud looming over their beloved Austrian horizon: Hitler is ascending to power, forcing Von Trapp to decide whether to join the Nazi party--which he loathes--or force his family to leave their home forever. One of the most memorable scores ever written (by Rodgers and Hammerstein) and breathtaking performances by Andrews, Plummer, and the seven children mark this classic as one of the world's most favorite films.

    Sound fo Music VHS purchase

    I decided to purchase The Sound of Music Tape on Ebay, because the price was fantastic. I priced the tape in stores and it sold for about $22.00. I wanted the tape because it's a classic and I watched it many times when I was young. I constantly search Ebay for many items and collectibles. Why pay full price? Ebay is so convenient, fun and the price is right! Where else could you search for things in the comfort of your own home at your own pace? Ebay always offers a variety of items that you would never find anywhere else. And the majority of the people are great too. What a geat fun way to buy and communicate with people. Ebay is always a great expierence! Thank you.

    Sound of music, absolutely a wonderful classic

    I would rate the sound of music as one of the best all time movies that I have ever seen, delightful, wonderful scenery, a storey of history, and a lot of love.... My favorite part of the movie is when all the von trapp children sing to the guests at there ball, a goodnight song..... Don't know a single person who has watched this movie who has not liked it... I bought it because I gave my last copy to my mom.... and I couldn't live without it... its one to be watched over and over... absolutely a wonderful classic!!!!!!

    Good Price for The Sound of Music movie

    I bought The Sound of Music movie few weks ago. I was looking for it in several places. The price draw my attention. I'm familiar with the movie, but I liked it as "a product" because of the way it was packed and shipped. I's just a movie that I have seen long ago and I got it for my kids and there is nothing else I could say about it. However, I do recommend it for any one with kids; it contains lot of music and songs about "learning music"

    The Sound of Music

    This is one of my all time favorite movies. It is clean, funny, educational, and also very heart warming. I recommend it to anyone who likes clean, wholesome entertainment. The cast is star studed and the characters are played to perfection. If you have never seen this movie you are in for a real treat. I have watched this movie at least once each year and am now pleased to own my own copy.
