About this product

Product Information

The Breakfast Club meets Resident Evil, with this survival horror adventure set in a typical American high school, the first video game developed by the French studio Hydravision Entertainment. Players take the roles of five different students attending the run-down Leafmore High School, each representing a different social-clique stereotype. Kenny comes off as a typical BMOC jock. His sister Shannon is an "A" student with first-aid training. Kenny's friend Stan is a bit of a delinquent, always scheming, while Ashley is a prom-queen-type with martial arts skills and Josh is a nerdy reporter for the school paper with a good eye for important details.

At least one of the five must survive through the story to reach the game's conclusion, but each possesses distinct abilities -- such as Kenny's speed and strength, or Stan's thieving skills -- so keeping as many of them alive as possible can make it easier to overcome various obstacles and survive surprise attacks. The students' exploration of the spooky high school corridors is punctuated with fast-paced running and shooting action sequences. In good adventure-game style, players will also need to fill their inventories with whatever items they can scrounge, and figure out how to use or combine this equipment in order to solve puzzles and progress through the story.

Obscure was previously released in Europe under the title Mortifilia. Prior to development of this survival horror game, Hydravision created Zombies, a series of French language pen-and-paper role-playing rulebooks.

A Hidden PS2 Horror Genre Classic

ObsCure has become a rarity among PS2 classics, and although playable on Steam, it has yet to be updated to PS4. With demand not only for horror games, but earlier, single console multiplayer games, this is one of the better yet more unknown titles by the general game playing public. With a great soundtarck and easy play, switch between four characters and frequent save points throughout and it remains tolerable by today's intense game standards and fans of the horror genre.

    Okay game.

I never played Obscure when it first released. When I first played it the game is too dark. There are not too many weapons in the game. It tries to be survival horror but it doesn't quite cut it in my opinion. It may be rare but it is not worth the price, it should be a little cheaper.

  • Obscure

This game is little different than most. Instead one hero running around and saving the world/school because that where you'll be running around killing monsters. You'll have 4 but only two of them will go at one time doesn't matter which 2. They all have there on own abilties that that can used anywhere in the game and don't worry about dying because if one hero dies then just keep going with the other one or go and get another charater so you will have backup. I liked this game with it's Resident evil style but the game is rather short and the ending is weak and so are your chataters they can't take much damage so if your attacked you have to heal quiet alot. It still is a fun game i do recommend this game for survival horror fans.

  • Amazing, unique, and smart multiplayer setup! LOVE IT

If you like survival horror games like myself, then Obscure is right up your alley. I'm giving it 5-stars because the multiplayer mode alone makes this game worth it. The way a friend can just jump on and off the controller as they please is a nice touch, not to mention convenient. I have a few issues with the game. For one, the characters, while unique in their own ways, are pretty cliche. Don't expect to fall in love with any of them. Second, could of used more of a variety of enemies, it's like the same 5 or 6 foes throughout most of the game. Those two things aside, I LOVE THIS GAME. Its minor flaws don't bother me at all, so I maintain my 5-star rating. Be patient going into it and give this game a chance. Kind of a rare game, some may even call it obscure, so you ...
