This piece is adequate for most repairs/replacement of tailpiece issues regarding violins. It does require slight modifications as most parts do such as chamfering the holes. The nylon retaining strap is decent and will mount without issue. The price in today's market is o.k. You get what you pay for. Sure, you can buy from Germany or some other European source and pay 3 times the amount, or more. Why? I'd rather deal with the small imperfections myself. Virtually everything I buy has to be updated, modified, or repaired to meet the requirements of the quality I provide to my clientele. Light weight and responsive.
This hill style tailpiece is very light wright and durable its a nice touch to any instrument. I recommend it with a single e fine tuner the low tension allows the instrument to vibrate more freely and gives a better sound than a composite tailpiece which looks cheaper and this is a classic look for any instrument!
