I happily used one of these thermometers for years, but replaced it with a digital, in/out electronic thermometer. That failed, and I got a second digital, which died in less than a year. So now I am back to a reliable mechanical thermometer, with no electronic displays, no batteries, no hassles. The price is very reasonable, about 1/5 the cost of a digital thermometer. . The Taylor thermometer is simple, made of aluminum and a glass tube, with nothing to go wrong. It is 9 inches overall high, and the scale, in Fahrenheit and Celsius are 4 1/2 inches high, easy to read through the window, where it is mounted to display the outdoor temperature. The original one is inside, and I can read both easily, with no possible failures. It mounts flat on a wall or board, and does not include a bracket. There are 2 small holes to mount it with nails of small screws, not included. This thermometer tells me the temperature. I never used the other features on digital models, so I don't miss them. Looks great and mounts easily. However, temp readings are typically 10 to 20 degrees off making it somewhat useless. I would cost nearly as much to ship back as the expected refund. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for.

I bought two, and they were within 2degrees of each other, so I compared them to a couple of digital models I know to be accurate and one was spot on, the other took just a bit of movement on the class envelope to be correct. Having the screws supplied with it to mount it was handy.

Needed an easy to read good old fashioned non digital thermometer which would cover a wide range of Maine weather temperatures. So far it’s done the low end of 20s below zero! Now waiting for above freezing to actually put a smile on my face as the snow melts. I wanted two so I could know the temp in the chicken coop as compared to the outside. So pleased I chose this thermometer. It arrived well packaged and before the expected time.

The product is well made but you need to be close to it to read the temp. I located it 12 feet from my door and I can just about make the number out. Not the products fault. But You can't go wrong for the price
