Another supposed "professional" indicated that these are a waste of money because they cannot be used dry. This is not true. I had never polished granite before, but, I used these pads with a buffer that has speed control (Like the Stadea Swp101k or harbor freight #60626) and achieved fantastic results. (See picture) Through experimentation, I learned that low speed and dry is the way to go for the 30 through 400 grit so that you can actually see the shaping (rounding of the edges) and scratch removal take place. This is not really possible with water flowing. After that it is mostly polishing and water is beneficial, but, not necessary. If a pad glazes while dry grinding/buffing/polishing, use water and the glaze should disappear. Low speed is the key! DO NOT use a "grinder" and expect the pads to last, or to get good results!!! In regards to the thickness (3 mm), i was pleasantly surprised that despite all of the use, both wet and dry, I cannot see any significant wear on any specific pad, or the pads overall. I am very happy with these!Read full review
