This mike advertises itself as a shotgun mike and looks like one, but the tiny data sheet shows an ordinary looking cardiod pattern rather than an elongated highly directional one. That drops one star from the rating. It comes with a foam wind screen that's a little hard to pull on, and it's the kind of open cell foam that crumbles to bits once it get old, but those are cheap and replaceable. This is a condensor mike that requires phantom power to operate, so you'll have the anomaly of using a really low cost mike with pro equipment that has the power feature. On the other hand you can bang this one up or lose it without much anguish. Save your pricey mike for work that needs it. It was kinda loose in the 21mm clip on my X70 camcorder but running the short cord through alongside the mike fixed that OK.Read full review

This mic has quite low bandwidth, comparing eg. to zoom SGH6. It also has quite high noise floor, so "adding" high tones in post will result in even higher noise... But for this price it is worth to have - for low demanding tasks or for tinkering.

I started making tutorial videos for YouTube and needed a microphone that was not always in front of my face. I looked at lapel microphones and also at shotgun microphones. This mic has a really long polar cardioid pattern and it picks up my voice nicely yet it's out of the shot. I've used it with a USB audio interface and also with a Zoom H4n recorder without any issues. Would buy again.

I brought two of these mics, both are used softly less than an year but now, one is not working and the other has a problem of connectivity.. I would recommend not to buy because this is not great quality sound. But mic is made of metal and heavy.

I was very surprised by this microphone, looks and perform like the original shotgun mic of My cameras D35WS, when You purchase a camera without the shotgun mic, I suggest THESE ONE, is a 48V phantom power and look like the original. Perfect for the price, For a time a Chinese stuff do the job I say lol
