This is THE book on the Oahu Railway & Land Company (OR&L) which at one time ran not only around the perimeter of the island of Oahu but up to it central plain. LIttle known these days except among rail historians the OR&L was a heavy duty steam railroad that was started before the US took over Hawaii and served in full glory during WWII. It disappeared shortly after WWII do to truck competition. A remnant survived for a while in the port area but it too is now gone. Lavishly illustrated and printed on high quality paper it is a wonderful book if you are interested in railroads and Hawaii of bygone days.
