The Zebra Sound guiro is made of sturdy brushed aluminum, so it stands up to use. Its textured finish yields a smooth ratchet-like sound when brushed by the included 10-tine scraper. A ringy tin can
This thing has a 5 inch diameter. Small bumps across the entire surface. An entirely too metallic sound. The open ends really ruin the sound. This may be fine in the background of a 40 person band but not if its a featured sound.
