I love reading this book and looking up the addresses of the hotels and motels and seeing where they are nowadays. I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and most of the ones that were in Detroit are now gone and Ford Field and Comerica Park own most of land that a lot of these little hotels and restaurants used to be. Oh and by the way I'm a 70 year old Caucasian man who was raised by parents that were very prejudice. But being I was a hippie in the 60s I learned compassion. So this book can be enjoyed by everyone and everyone can learn from this book.

I compare the Negro Travelers1954 Facsimile book and pages to The 1963/1964 Version. The 1954 book has smaller pages, smaller print and print is not as clear as 1963/1964 version. I would recommend a different Green Book edition than 1954. I have both books.

The historical context helps to explain not only the past but also current cultural struggles. This little book gave me a view into the life of African Americans before desegregation. It also made me ashamed that other human beings, created in God’s image, would be treated with such disrespect. The reason the book was printed every year is also the reason to buy the reprinted version today.

This is exactly what is described. I was disappointed there weren't more ads and other historical facts, but that was my expectation, not the description. This is an awful memory, but one that should be remembered! I was also disappointed I couldn't find an original version.
