It's already August hot in Louisiana and the object is to keep shiners alive in cool, well aerated water. I installed a small digital thermometer with a metal clip in the side of the bucket's Styrofoam liner; if the water gets too warm I throw a couple of cubes of ice in and continue fishing ( I like below 80 degrees f.). The air pump works great and I have not had to change the batteries after about 16 total hours running time. I do wish the cover were a little more sturdy, but, it really doesn't affect the bucket's performance. Some may consider it a bit pricey; however, if you fish a lot the money saved by keeping the bait alive for long periods and preventing the run back to the dock for more bait during the day makes it a good investment.
