As is the case with most masterpiece figures, they're mostly display quality and aren't truly meant for "play" or even multiple transformations. Heck, the rear wings fell off even before the figure was out of the box, but this isn't any different that the Acid Storm mold or the Starscream mold....since they're exactly the same. Basically if you're buying them to have endless hours of transformation or play, then skip it because it won't hold up at all. If you're going to display him (as he was intended with the included display stand), then transform him into your desired display mode and put him behind glass. If you transform him once a year for the curious house guest or child, then you'll be fine. Just don't do it more than that.

The takara MP 05 figure is a fun toy. Over sized in the gun mode. The cannon is a bit too large in robot mode. This is by for the most complicated transformer to transform I have ever seen. I had to watch videos online 3 times to get the transformation down. Once I learned it , i feel comfortable doing it. I will not be transforming him a lot. It is exactly like the painted version, minus the paint on his eyes and no decals. This is a nice option for a 1/3 of the price. Check your sellers first!

I was very disappointed with this particular MP figure. I have several others and this one is of the same good quality plastic and the paint job is very well done but I found on mine the joints to be very loose. As a result it was very difficult to get him to stand or hold a pose. This isn't a complaint I've seen in other review so it might have just been mine. I wasn't a big fan of the robot mode either. The fusion cannon is really big and limits pretty substantially what you can do with him. There is also something else about his robot mode that more a matter of taste but for me it just didn't have the presence that MP Optimus or Grimlock or Soundwave had. Something about the over sized fusion cannon and and the really skinny exposed legs just didn't have the right look. Then there's the transformation. Yes it's pretty tricky. I'm sure it's difficult to engineer a transformation for megatron but even with the instructions it takes a fair bit of time. The alt mode looks great though and the light in the fusion cannon is a nice touch.Read full review
This toy is not for everyone, its Transformation is very involved and complex, and if you don't know what to do, then you will most likely end up breaking it. If you watch a detailed review with step by step Transformation guides(Such as Optibotmus') you should be fine so long as you have the patience to learn its in and outs. I have transformed him over 20 times by now, and I would say the only real damage done to it are some Paint chips, most are minor, but his head has a massive scrape on its right side due to the transformation. Although that might be a tolerance issue.
