After watching Snowden on Netflix I had to buy the book. Some have complained about the "dryness" of his writing, and lack of humor. But I found the book fascinating. It starts out with Edward's childhood. His fascination with computers seems to have come from his father who was a engineer in the Navy and had brought home gaming systems and the earlier pc's. Snowden learned fast and years later after failing out of Special Forces due to an accident, he gets enlisted into the NSA. The book goes on to tell how he discovered how everyone has a Permanent Record on the internet. We have so much of our lives online and if you think someone isn't watching you are very wrong. This book is a great eye opener. And I found his style of writing very personal. His sense of humor in the book is a little dry but what do you expect from a spy. I highly recommend it. If you enjoyed the movie you'll love the book!Read full review

It was good to get Snowden's perspective after reading all the negative things that the US press wrote about his revelations. The book shined a light on what the US gov't does behind closed doors (many good and some not very ethical).

Words matter to me. Communication equals understanding. The media's word "just' biased Snowden's humanity and credibility.
