Virtually all feathers received were 12". Feathers seem to have been recently harvested; they had considerably more flexibility than older, drier feathers. I have used these to tie bodies and they seem to make reasonably thick bodies.

my fault for not reading the specifications carefully or understanding them properly. "9-12 inches" is perfectly accurate as the TOTAL length of each feather. so, mostly feather with just a little bit of spine but I needed more spine to hold on to in order to wave the feathered top for a cat toy. the feathers ARE beautiful if you have another purpose in mind, and everything else about the purchase was GOOD.
