The Astaire & Rogers Collection, Volume 2, is AWESOME! Along with my Volume 1, I now have all 10 Fred & Ginger movies and they are ALL great! I LOVE Gene Kelly, and while he will always be King of the solo dance, no one can hold a candle to, before or since, Fred & Ginger, when it comes to couples dancing. Some of their dances are simply AMAZING, even by today's standards. If you need proof, just watch "Swing Time" (from Volume One). The final dance culminates with them dancing up separate stairways. According to Wikipedia: "This final routine was shot forty-seven times in one day before Astaire was satisfied, with Rogers' feet left bruised and bleeding by the time they finished." Fred Astaire ALWAYS strove for perfection and with Ginger Rogers as his dance partner, he usually got it!

The Astaire & Rogers Collection Volume 2 completes the DVD release of Fred Astaire's and Ginger Roger's ten films together. It includes their first, Flying Down to Rio, in which they were cast in popular supporting roles. My favorite picture in this collection is The Gay Divorcee, which is very similar to Top Hat in cast and plot and likewise very enjoyable. Carefree, a screwball comedy-musical, the biopic The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle, and Roberta, a fun musical about fashion, finish out the set. I recommend this volume to fans of Fred and Ginger looking to complete their set of the ten Astaire-Rogers movies. These are very good musicals, and they are also available separately on DVD if you don't want to buy the set. If you haven't already bought the first volume of this collection, you might consider the ten-film version of the collection.Read full review
The best part about this movie is the debut teaming of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. The 'air circus' at the end is fun and the plot is a little zany too but the dance pairing of Astaire and Rogers set the stage for a generation of dance not to be paralleled.

Classic old movie style done up right by Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. It was the touch of finger tips, a hand on the waist, a longing look and a smile, and a graceful spin; it was Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, making love while they danced into our hearts and stayed there. It was elegance and charm, a romantic screen teaming like no other. Fred and Ginger gave the country a boost and a bit of hope in dire times, and made a collection of funny and romantically elegant dance musicals that have never been surpassed as film entertainment. There was magic when they danced, and charm when the talked to each other. Here, in this wonderful boxed set, are some of their finest films. It is a bit of heaven you can slide into your any time you need a lift, and never be let down. Even the wonderful "Carefree" is included, a film less like the others in that the emphasis was on the screwball humor rather than the routines, which were less in abundance but still as enchanting. Also included in this set is their bittersweet farewell picture, "The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle." Fred and Ginger fans will be glad "The Barkley's of Broadway" has been included in this set as well. It was made as a "reunion" picture, ten years after the couple had said goodbye. It is an enjoyable film on its own, but a notch below the other four. Nevertheless, every fan of Fred and Ginger needs to own that one also.Read full review
I like watching the way movies were made in the 1930’s and ‘40’s. They are entertaining with good plots and excellent dancing scenes.
