About this product

Product Information

The unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic. Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior - to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.

The book condition does not meet the "good" description. The front cover and first 40 pages are "rolled" forward on the top and bottom right corners and the binding is way more than just "lightly used". It has been badly creased and the color worn off. There is also a large number "13" written on the pages in marker on the top.

    Harper lee-to kill a mockingbird.

The book is a excellent telling of that period of time in the southern part of America. Why the people in the 21st century don't understand that language used in the book is there because that was how they spoke during that time. Schools that ban book's that are important and should be read just for some ractical words are denying students their rights to experience the knowledge that can only be found in these books. Please continue to read these great books through your library's or buying them online. A excellent book.

  • Top critical review

    Clunky reading, somewhat overrated

This book can be challenging to get through - mainly because of confusing point of view at times, lots of history/cultural references readers are expected to already know. Not sure how likable any of the characters are. Great vocabulary words for high school students to learn.

  • To Kill A Mockingbird

I love this book! Harper Lee had such a way with the English language. Her words transport you to a certain time and place in the South that I remember very well. Her characters are familiar and bring to mind friends and family lost in memory.

  • To Kill a Mockingbird...A classic because the issues plague humankind.

I have not read this particular book; I bought it as a gift for Christmas for my grandson to start his own personal library. Read the story years and years back.

  • I Learned It All In To Kill a Mockingbird

Everything I have ever needed to know about moral values, decency, and human nature in general I have learned through the classic book To Kill a Mockingbird by perfectionist author Harper Lee. These are the things that I have learned: Children watch their parents as role models more than may be apparent; kids may disobey their parents a lot, but still generally have the same outlook on life as their parents do; if a child is brought up by prejudiced parents then they are likely to have prejudice towards a group of people as well. Adult figures are the result of the environment they grew up in. In a field of weeds and vines there will always be something that stands out from the overgrowth, be it a flower, a mockingbird, or a kind lawyer. True courage is not a man with a gun in his ...
