This book is for collectors and those who love to cook from scratch. It's a picture into the lives of our mothers and grandmothers and what it took for them to put a good meal on the table. No wonder so many stayed at home! Though times have changed and meals can be placed on the table with a faster speed and greater variety, there's just something pure about this style of cooking. This book is not only historical, it's educational as well. It recaptures the lost art of baking. Since this edition is an exact reproduction of the original, I feel free to bring it into the kitchen and risk subjecting its pages to the splatter of run away batter. Leaving the marks of batter and butter on the pages of a new cook book somehow honors it's existence. Leaving those same marks on an antique cook book does the opposite. That's why I purchased a new copy, I want to cook with abandon and not worry about spots and splatter on a piece of history.Read full review
