I drive a lot for work, and so I run a ham and CB radio. I struggled to hear them clearly. Despite small size and realistic expectations, it's louder and has better voice clarity than I expected from such a diminutive form factor. I didn't want to give up more of my truck than needed to an external speaker and didn't have to.

First I was surprised by how small this is, and the actual speaker is only 2 inches. It is well made, but is only good for indoors or in a very quiet car. The 7 watt rms rating may be what it will take before blowing, but FAR less power drives it to distortion. My Uniden mobile scanner distorts it at 3/4 volumn. So if you need it for a quiet environment it is a reasonable choice.

This is an OK speaker but not great. It is good for scanners, but not so great for 2 way communications. The actual is much smaller than the grill size. The actual speaker is a little more than 2 inches. It is not the best sounding. Uniden failed to put a bigger speaker in this housing. better.I have connected it to a CB, and also to a Marine 2 way radio and a Ham VHF/UHF and it works but does not have a great quality to the sound. The next size up in Uniden speakers is better. A 4 or 5 inch external speaker is much better sound than this little guy. For the money, this litttle speaker works much bettter with a scanner than a 2 way radio.

A little lighter than Midland's counterpart, 7 watts. works well mounted above my head. I use it for CB and GMRS mobile radio in my vehicle.
