A great cookbook for a beginner or for someone who likes simple recipes. There is a recipe in this book for everyone. The book is divided into chapters --Chapter 1 Bar Cookies, Chapter 2 Rolled Cookies, Chapter 3 Drop Cookies, Chapter 4 Chocolate Cookies, Chapter 5 Nut Cookies, Chapter 6 Brownies, Chapter 7 Delicate Cookies, Chapter 8 Molded Cookies, Chapter 9 Refrigerator and Pressed Cookies---Plus a bonus Red Spoon Tip chapter. All the standard ones are in this book like snickerdoodles, thumbprint, chocolate chip, oatmeal, and a lot more of the old time cookies. The newer recipes I look forward to making. They look really delicious but they also don't have a lot of ingredients or lengthy prep and bake time. That makes it a great cookie! This cookbook would make a great gift for anyone who likes to bake, even the inexperienced ones. I don't think there is a picture for every recipe, but there are a lot of pictures in there. I bought this cookie cookbook because I like the cookies from when we were little and they actually had taste. I know we all should be eating healthier, but some of these cookies once and awhile would be a great treat. Better then those sawdust balls passing as a cooky these days. No Sugar No Salt No Butter--No Taste! Yuk. There are great cookbooks coming out all the time, but I still like some of the old recipes too. It's a nice mix. I would definetly recommend this cookbook if you love cookbooks, it's a must have.Read full review
This is a great vintage Betty Crocker cookbook. There are many titles Under "the Red Spoon" editions. And like them all, this is a great cookbook. Classic recipes that never go out of style. The only drawback is that there isn't a picture with every recipe. Other than that, it's great for both beginner and intermediate cooks. Highly recommended.
