It's not as nice as some metal locking ones I have but locks just keep honest people honest. If someone wants your gun then a metal case won't stop them. This is made of a tough plastic with a nice layer of foam on each side inside. I can easily fit a large rifle or 2 shotguns inside comfortably. It's definitely nice length, one of my rifles wouldn't fit in anything but this one. Great product for the money, the foam inside is loose and comes out sometimes but it's nothing a couple drops of glue here and there didn't fix. Most definitely recommend this gun case to carry and protect your guns
