I ordered 2 of these devices. Don't understand the technology but needed 2 devices for either end of the garage to control the door because my doorbell switches no longer worked with the new opener. Now I have the main controller just inside the garage by the service door. So I have the wireless keypad outside by the garage door. I now have 4 points to control the garage door. I like that the 2 switches can also control the garage door opener lights separately from the opening function. Simple to install. Excellent.

I installed a Chamberlain garage door opener. It has only one push-button switch. My prior system had three switches and I wanted to retain this functionality. Chamberlain wanted over $15 each. Web research found that the Liftmaster 883LM was a better substitute, same functionality PLUS an added switch that allows momentarily turning on the opener's light. This unit is significantly cheaper and works great. As an aside, the Chamberlain opener is great also.

It use to be a common door bell switch would open the garage door. Now it takes a special switch with a circuit board inside. I really don't see the need of this, but the LifMaster switch functions well. This switch has a small push button switch on the side that controls the light on the garage door opener. Guess you could say it's a switch on a switch. Although this looks just like the one that care with my Chamberlain door opener the addition little side switch does make it handy for lighting control. Very simple to install, even comes with screws and instructions in three languishes. What it amounts to, unplug door opener, screw wires any witch way to the switch, Press it till it works. Twice for me. Oh, it's a lighted "Door Bell" switch. Guess when you think about it, it cost about the same as a simple door bell switch so I can't complain. Read full review

Yes I works fine, has a back light, and looks nice. But it would be nice if the light indicated if the door was opened or closed. I use this control button on the inside of the house where you can not see the garage door. My old button was Lighted when the door was open, and no light when the door was closed.

If you have an older garage door opener that can be operated with a doorbell button you will miss that when you have to get a new opener. We had a button in the garage and another just inside the front door. The new opener came with an operator that replaced the button in the garage. I used the existing wiring from the old button to the old opener. Connected the old wire to the back of the operator in the garage and put the 883LM on the other end in place of the doorbell button. Works fine.
