This is the Second of the Two books I believe you must have to train your gun dog. Bill Tarrant teaches you the Delmar Smith Method. Bill and Delmar as well both come from the old school out there. They must have learned everything they know of Dogs From listening to Will Rogers. These guys do know how to get the very utmost out of a working dog.You will read this book in starts and fits. Then you will go back to look up the problems you have and how to cure that problem. Once you have done that a dozen times guess what you may just set down and read this book cover to cover. I have owned this book for 5 years I must have read and reread it two dozen times. As many times as I have read it every time I pick this book up I learn something new. Time and again. Every time you find one more little nugget of truth in this book it will pay for itself all over again. Just what you can learn in how to pick out a dog will save you hundreds of Dollars in Veterinary bills. This book is a must read for anyone going to buy a dog. If read, until understood, it is a great learning, and teaching tool. Delmar has also learned, and actually produced a DVD showing the proper use of electronic collars, which at the time this book was written were pretty crude contraptions.

I first got this book from a public library approx. 10 years ago. I read it, and put the practices and method to use. They work. Delmar Smith possesses an abundant knowledge of dog psyche. I would highly recommend that anyone interested in bird dogs read this book.
