Network in my opinion has views, descriptions, and thoughts that can almost be thought of as the same as what we deal with now. Though this movie was made in 1976. It couldnt be more true today with all the actions shown on tv. (boy did it take me a while not to pull any swear words in that last sentence) To give a quick rundown... Network is a someone action and comedy movie about a news reporter who was almost fired after saying things on the air. Which later actually rose ratings which actually prevented him from getting fired, giving him more airtime to rant the conspiricies of the government, religion, and the whole world in general. Great movie but definetly not a movie to watch with the little ones around.
Peter Finch plays the character Howard Beale who is a has been in the news programs and the management has decided that news is a loss to the bottom line. Faye Dunaway plays Diana Christensen who is a manager that removes all stops to get her way and is mainly concerned with the ratings. Robert Duvall is a axe man who is concerned with the bottom line. William Holden is Max Schumacher who values his friendship with Howard and works to make the team function in spite of the disfunction. This potpourri of chacters makes for one of the best dark comedies I have watched. The fim was created back in the mid 70's and it was an Academy Award winner. Beale is told he is going to be let go because of the low ratings, Diana tells Duvall she can make something out of the news program if she is granted carte blanche with running the show. Beals states he is going to kil himself on live TV in two weeks. The ratings soar and the watchers of the program behave like puppets to Beale. He becomes sensational. This movie will tickle your funny bone and satisfy your desire for drama. I enjoyed this movie back in the 70's and when I watched it again I felt the enjoyment again.Read full review

This movie was made about thirty years ago, but holds very true today. Its a story about simple values, such as honesty and integrity; and how easily they can be tossed aside. Most movies I rent, but this one is for my permanent collection.
