I bought "The Very Best of Dusty Springfield" (Mercury CD 1998) because our collection of popular music from the 1960s didn't include her work. With 20 Billboard singles and eight albums, Ms Springfield was a major influence on the music of the era. This particular compilation album was given five stars from allmusic.com, so I sought it. I agree with the allmusic reviewer that the music is excellent, but the track organization is a bit weird. Mono and stereo tracks are mixed wily-nilly, and Ms Springfield's development as a singer would have been more apparent had the tracks been in chronological order. A critical listener might want to load the tracks into iTunes or something similar, rearrange the tracks, and burn a revised CD.
For being the best of, not many recognizable songs. Does not sound digital mastered at all. My first Dusty music, prolly the only.

All of Dusty's very best on one CD can be a good excuse for wearing out the disc with repeat plays... again and again. There will never be another Dusty Springfield. This collection is a must-have for all her fans or music lovers who just want to experience the most powerful, unique and fabulous voice ever recorded.
Overall an good cd. good songs except for 3 or 4. the rest were very good.
