Not the "HIGH END" cable set but if you're not a PRO like myself and have to "BUY" things it's the best for your buck. Coated for smooth shifting and the housing seems to not rust as fast as other brands. Shimano is GOOD! Besides Cycling stuff I also own many Shimano Fishing Reels and the quality is just awesome. Seems Shimano can do no wrong!.....:)

Set comes with shift cable, cable & housing tips, but the housing is low quality brake housing.

In the past, the spiral-wound reinforcing in the housing for derailleur cables was abandoned in favor of parallel strands, due to the lack of compressive resistance inherent to a spiral winding. I haven't kept pace with many technological changes in the bicycle world, so that is why I was surprised to see this being used once more. What I do like about the cable is that it is more supple than parallel-stranded cable, and easy to cut, easier to work with. I am using it on a test build with an older frame & components, making the application much less fussy than might be the case if I were using brifters.

Replacing some crappy housings that split. The shimano cable housings are spiral steel with a nylon inner tube. I noticed some people are using cable housings that are not spiral steel but are just twisted. Not only do the twisted housing split, the derailler cables do not shift as accurately because the housing is not rigid enough. It also does not bend well.

Price wise is great item! But it is NOT product of Japan. It is product of the Chinese. I would say 1 or 2 notches under the Japanese superior quality for a pro cyclist. Other than that let the time judge its performance. Great shipment as usual!
