In all honesty this cd is a good compilation. It sounds like a good blend of Bay Area rappers on East Coast beats. Listening to it for the first time in a while brought me back to the mid 90s East Coast hip hop scene. Lyrics are as superior as you "full-time" rappers, but most bring enough to the table. "Lost In The Sauce" is a good track by the late Malik Sealy. Most people say athletes shouldn't be rappers, but there are a few exceptions. Flow alone, Malik is as smooth and silky has his game was. Shaq's "Mic Check 1-2" is your typical Shaq upbeat, hyped-and-energetic song. Cedric Ceballos brings a few comedic lines on "Flow On" with "your booty-kickin' rhymes, mines are finger-lickin". This west-coast boast receives a boost from 213's Warren G and produces a good video. Jason Kidd and Bryan Shaw's tracks are pretty good and give a good insight to their personal story of their rough roads to the League. The most surprising track comes from Gary Payton who sounds the exact opposite of his trash-talking self on the court to deliver a mid-uptempo melodic flow that is a representation of mid-90s Bay Area music. Overall, its a decent album with a few tracks to skip. Aside from the lyrical absences, its mostly a good blend of beats and flows from the basketball court.Read full review
