The group Canned Heat was and is the foremost American electric boogie and blues band. Simply put, the Heat is the best! Al Wilson, Bob Hite, Larry Taylor, Henry Vestine and Fito de La Parra were considered the "Classic Canned Heat" line-up and as this CD shows, were excellent musicians with great feel and soul for performing original blues based material. Their interpretations of classic blues numbers were unprecedented for the time and still remain vital to this day. This CD compilation features many numbers that have been previously unreleased and are quite rare.....for the average Canned Heat fan, these tracks are a joy to listen to! The instrumental track "Terraplane Blues" (by Robert Johnson) is a great example of an unreleased song and how the band was able to take classic blues and bring them "up to date" with amplified electric instruments. If you like the blues and "good time" boogie music, you will love this CD!!!! So, boogie with the Heat, you'll be glad you did!!!! Long Live Canned Heat!!!!.......... I love the Best of Canned Heat, 1994 compilation CD because it contains many of their best songs and not ones that weren't ever played on the radio and that you don't know. I bought this CD because days before I sat in on a Guess Who concert and I became a little melancholy for past music and the events in my life that the music like Canned Heat reminded me of. The CD itself was in pristine condition, unopened and new. I played it immediately and was whisked back instantly to days of yore! This is the best CD so far that I have bought and I anticipate future CD purchases will meet the same high standards.
