I really liked this movie because of the above average acting (with one exception). Richard Crenna is always dependable for a good performance and Ben Cross was fine as Nemo. The performance that really made the movie was Julie Cox who was fantastic as Sophie. She has an amazing face that conveys a lot without saying any lines. The special effects were good but the one thing that kept me from giving this movie 5 stars was the actor that played Ned Land. His emotionless performance really was not near to the rest of the cast but otherwise I could definitely recomend this movie.
I bought this primarily because I am a big Ben Cross fan. I have to say from that point of view it is not his best work, but he did well within the parameters given showing Nemo to be cultured and refined. I have to say though that the underwater photography showing the coral and wildlife was superb. Do not buy this if you want an up to date version expecting it to be as good as the James Mason / Kirk Douglas Version. It is a totally different take on the story of the Nautilus and its enigmatic Captain. Watch it for what it is and you will enjoy it.
I always like Richard Cremona movies
