Everything finally came together during the magical year of 1982 and this debut is a product of that creative prowess that existed within the group. Four of the five of members were Zappa personnel back in the mid-late 70's, so the musicianship and songwriting is more advanced than some of their peers. Terry Bozzio exhibited an incredible power drumming style while touching on multiple genres, like Hard and Progressive Rock, Acid-Jazz, Reggae and Punk and had a strong stage presence. While living in San Francisco back in the 60's he was exposed the psychedelic counter-culture and music scene at the time and then went on to study and play classical/symphonic percussion, Jazz and other drumming techniques through the early 70's. He then joined Frank Zappa in 75'. Warren, also a Zappa member, brought a nice hard rock edge to their sound while being very versatile and experimental with the guitar passages. Patrick (ex-Zappa) and Chuck held the keyboard duties and provided those fantastic electronic layers and foundation needed to expand their sound into synth wonderland. Dale, well what can I say, I'm still in Love with her and proved to be the talent that Zappa knew she would be... Spring Session M is a masterpiece that the band themselves could not quite pull off again or even top. They eventually failed to meet the success of this album with the next two albums, but the performances and musicianship were always top notch and the members were masters of their instruments. This a testament to the sound and image of the 80's, the last great decade we will ever have again, at least for a long time...Read full review

If your looking for a retrospective album that represents the 80s nicely in sound and theme, this is a highly recommended album. It was mostly over-looked in its time, but the music and the talents of the artist age well. A few strong songs, and even the stuff that didn't chart still sounds pretty good. Strong songs includes "It Ain't None of Your Business" , "Destination Unknown", "Walking in LA", "Tears", "Words" and the bonus track not included on the original vinyl or cassette, "Mental Hopscotch". No band had a sound quite like Missing Persons. Funk and Synth and Progressive and Dance and Hard Rock all at the same time - with a commercial polish to boot. Most people will know "Words", the hit song and FM radio staple of the 80s and early 90s, but it's only when you listen to the whole album that you discover the depth that was present behind that tune. This may be a reissue of the original, but it's quality is top-notch.

Great debut album from Missing Persons. Formed from Frank Zappa's 1979-80 band. Lots of hair. Lots of makeup. Power Drumming. Super-Hot vocalist Dale Bozzio(Mary from Joe's Garage by FZ) who squeeks just the right notes. Great 1980s music.
