This is Rock and Roll and its rockinist. The recordings are from the old Chess Records masters from the 1950's and 60's. This is the roots of rock and roll but, make no mistake, it is rough, rowdy, and bluesy R&R--the real thing. The music itself is not far removed from its traditions of Southern African American and French creole music, but it has its own identity--it's electric, it's got a sometimes hard-driving, sometimes soulful beat. You just gotta shake somethin when you listen to it. Listen to Who Do You Love and tell me you can sit still. The CD comes with a history and discography that slides into the CD cover. Many major innovators in British and American rock music cut their teeth on Bo Diddley. If you like to rock you can't go wrong here.
Great "undiscovered" music by Bo Diddley - songs I'd never heard before that I had to play for my music loving friends. If you only know Bo from his crossover hits, then you don't know Diddley.

There are certain songs that I really like, but some were not hits and I just skip over them. I would liked to have seen more of his hit records on this CD. I bought the CD because I think Bo Diddley is a fantastic singer. My favorite hit record of his that was on this CD is " I'm A Man."
Bo Diddley was right up there w/Chuck Berry. His songs are fantastic and the recordings are stellar.
