Great camera and awesome value. I'll be very honest and say yes of course the Gopro is better in video quality and settings configurations, sound well that is par I'd say but what value with the LCD screen, remote and case the swann is a bargain. The Swann is actually a chinese AEE sports camera SD20 I believe and they also have different models SD19 SD21 etc so don't bother with swann tech support. I also finally found somewhere that sells the spare battery with slotted terminals not the flat ones at hobbiestree.com, battery life is limited but so is any other action camera. You can buy storage batteries of high MAH and charge the camera unit but for quick changes spare batteries are the way to go. I find the remote quite handy, the laser is quite useless as you cant use it in the case and one very annoying thing is to change any settings you have to put the lcd on but then take it off again to fit it into the waterproof case. The case rattles a little but if you jam in some foam/strapping tape here and there they disappear. If you can get over these issues the image quality is quite good for the price.Read full review
so far no problems with this unit. i'm a novice user. it's working well in wet environments on my sailboat. it comes with several extra features and hardware you don't get with a gopro. i eventually plan to set it up to take videos of my boat from a kite. caution: high resolution, large format videos take a lot of memory.
pros: good video quality, built well, very versatile, and easy to use. cons: no zoom, and sound is alright. overall it works great for my action videos, and underwater filming :).
I needed a small light compact camera that I could use on my RC airplanes for flying videos. Great little HD camera with lots of features for the price. True 1080p 30fps HD video. I like it, this is my second one. It was better priced than the GoPro and with many more accessories that are not included with the GoPro. The only fault I've found is the digital zoom will not work at 1080p, but does work at 720p or lower resolutions.
I really liked this camera.Its easy to use and the battery its incredible.Thought I have to try it in the water but I think that it will be greate.
