Energize By Going on 10 Great Dates
David and Claudia Arp have been teaching marriage seminars for years--this book is often used in a group setting. A group of married couples watch a short video segment, then each couple goes on a date and discusses the topic for that date. In the book are "worksheets" for each date, and each person gets a sheet--his and hers are in the book for each date. Many churches sponsor the 10 GREAT DATES seminars and often provide free childcare, so couples can get away alone to talk. You can use this book as a couple without watching the videos. The dates are to get you talking and connecting without conflicts. The topics help you build and strengthen your marriage, no matter how different you are. If you've grown apart or have small children and are busy working and just don't connect enough, these dates are great for bringing back your loving feelings and thankfulness for each other. This book and the course have a date about Christianity and spirituality, but you can use it no matter what your faith is. The point is to talk together about your spiritual life. The book is a great way to address topics that you may not otherwise articulate, such as being intentional in your marriage, sharing responsibility, learning to talk/listen/encourage each other, balancing roles, and more. The book helps you grow together by learning creative ways of doing so. The Arps have often said, "we take having fun seriously."
