Two CD collection. One of the greatest Hard Rock bands ever, Van Halen have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, crowning their amazing career with their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With their 1978 eponymous debut, Van Halen simultaneously rewrote the rules of Rock guitar and Hard Rock in general. Guitarist Eddie Van Halen redefined what electric guitar could do, developing a blindingly fast technique with a variety of self-taught two-handed tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and effects that mimicked the sounds of machines and animals. It was wildly inventive and over the top, equaled only by vocalist David Lee Roth, who brought the role of a Metal singer to near-performance art standards with his wild flair for showmanship. Together, they made Van Halen into the most popular American Rock 'n' Roll band of the late '70s and early '80s, and in the process set the template for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal for the '80s and beyond. 36 tracks including cuts from the DLR years as well as later tracks with Sammy Hagar.     If your a Sammy Hagar fan this is the only way to get his stuff remastered. Guess Eddie doesn't like him so all the other albums got remastered in HDCD but not Sammy's. It's strange it goes all over the place with no rhyme or reason but a good tribute to the band. The recording is kind of bright not on par with the other Van Halen remasters but looks like it's all we're gonna get. It is a double c.d.

    Legendary music by a legendary artist. I have this cranked on my car speakers every time I drive to work or school. CD cover also has a ton of detail to it as well - the stripes on the cover are raised and each of the scratches are actually etched into the sleeve.

    Nice representation of most songs

    Keep an eye on this Van Halen band. They are sure to be famous some day. The lead guitar player needs much practice and could be fair some day. Overall great sound for our church mass music. Recording is perfect and you can smell the cigarette smoke right through the speakers of our church bus.
