I must admit, I never was much of a fan of the band Counting Crows, I liked the song Mr. Jones (although it was way, way, way over played back then), and I didn't really follow the bands progression through the 90's then I discovered this release and gave it a try and was shocked at just how much I liked it. First off, the songs on this cd are more subdued, there is a lot of acoustic material and it seemed like they really took their time making this release. My favorite Grateful Dead song of all time was covered on this release and boy oh boy is it a great version! The band really done a great job on "Friend of the Devil", it is probably my favorite cover of this song by any band other than the Dead (and thats high praise coming from an old Dead-head 4 sure!).
I used to listen to the Counting Crows a while back but I never really got that hooked on them. But not too long ago I played an older "August and Everything After" CD that I had borrowed from a friend and realized just how drop-dead good they really are. I wanted this CD because it had some of the tunes that I liked best of all.If you like them, then I recommend this one to have in your collection, if not, give it a listen and maybe they'll grow on you.
Probably one of the best counting crows CDs . Has all of the top hits from most of the mainline CDs.
