Both "So, Do the Zonk" and "Just a Little Girl" appeal to my girl-pop sensibilities. The remainder of the first 18 cuts are certainly solid enough—great writers, producers, and session men—but it's only with "Drop the Drip," followed by the soundtrack of Beach Blanket Bingo, that the music finally kicks into full-fledged teen-scene territory, which is much more to my liking. Highlights are "Cycle Set"; "I Think, You Think"; "I'll Never Change Him"; Fly Boy"; "New Love" and "Beach Blanket Bingo." The instrumental "Freeway" is pretty cool. Not included here unfortunately are "Dream World" and "Muscle Bustle." If you're of a certain age, you'll certainly remember Donna Loren as the face of Dr. Pepper and as a cast member of Shindig! Donna Loren deserves to be a lot better known. To those of us who remember the 1960's, Donna is a serious contender for the best all around girl pop singer of the era! Donna Loren could really sing - not bark; not scream; not squeal; or gargle - but SING! She was also a remarkably versatile singer who could color her voice in becoming ways! This collection shows off her considerable talent. It also begs the question, why isn't she better known!Donna Loren deserves to be a lot better known.
