Per usual, Thomas Sowell comprehensively researches the topic and draws a causal relationship between the decline of core educational topics and the rise of leftist ideological indoctrination at all levels of public education. Further, he dispels the myth that the education complex needs more money citing a host of studies that show little to no correlation between money spent per student and students' successful learning. Do read this book if you are an educator. It's a welcome break from the typical education books who's authors relish speaking in such lofty, ambiguous tones but fail to say anything worthwhile.
Excellent, Dr. Sowell always does his research and is not afraid to take on controversial subjects with great insight. He is the greatest Intellectual of the 20 Century and 21 Century at least to date.

The only reason why I bought this book because it was required for class. It was not very interesting and I find myself getting bored when I had to read the chapters. Probably what threw me off the most was the fact that I disagreed with several things discussed in the book. Overall, I give this book at least a average rating compared to others books that I have read from educators. Also, the book is a little bit older and the education system has definitely changed from that time.
