This has been a classic in our house ever since we got it. No matter what the season it is a Great movie. It has been watched many many times. The characters are acted exquisitely. It is a reminder of what is important in life. The movie is staged in Nevada city. My girlfriend lived there and was so excited to see the town now. She let her tears flow without any effort to stop them when she saw the church. Her dad, who is no longer living, was the pastor of the Nevada city Methodist Church for 7 years. She was so excited to see that the inside the church had not changed. Thank-you Nevada City Methodist Church for giving my friend such a blessing. From two ladies who love the movie! We live in the village of Dillingham on the Western Coast of the Great State of Alaska! .

The shipping was good and the disc seems pretty good except that it blanked out a couple of times and was in need of cleaning. It still works ok with those exception.

I first watched this movie on Netflix - and LOVED it! The following Christmas I tried to watch it once again, only to find that it had been removed from the play list. I was fortunate enough that year to find a DVD to borrow. This year, I decided that I loved the movie enough to buy it and I haven't regretted it since! The movie touches my heart strings since I am an Army mom. As in the movie - true to life - every year Christmas cards and goodie boxes were prepared and shipped to soldiers serving over seas. Some of the soldiers I knew and others I did not...I just knew that they needed all the support that I could give them. So many soldiers deployed are totally alone without a loving support system from home. I found this movie actually to be very true to life, with events and extraordinary characters. There are real families like this one - living, loving, watching out for each other and can laugh together :)Read full review

A very well written Christmas/love story. All the characters were superb in their performances. My sister-in-law can't get enough of it. She has watched it a countless number of times and claims it is the best movie in the Hallmark Christmas series.

This DVD was purchased at the request of my wife, shortly after it was on the Hallmark Channel (one of several times), if I remember correctly. Apparently she wants to be able to watch something else every time this is on next Christmas, and then watch this later. Seriously, this is a sweet little romantic Christmas story, where the boy and girl fall for each other at first sight, but the girl is already involved with the ultimate preppie, a globe-trotting wine dealer, despite her being a Westerner whose father owns a family sawmill. (How would she have met that guy in the first place?) The hero is searching for himself, and of course he gets the girl at the end. She's cute, he's the Gary Cooper war-hero type. The goofy uncle is the goofy uncle from all family Christmas movies. Lois Nettleton is the mom, trying to keep everybody on the right track, and it's nice to see her again. Ed Asner plays the all-knowing father, and apparently he's so cold (temperature, not personality) that his acting is stiff, at least outside, but it does warm up indoors. (Sorry, couldn't resist that, but you knew it was coming, didn't you?) It's a nice way to spend some time while you wrap presents, and nobody claims to be related to Santa. Or watch it in July for a reminder (or preview) of the Christmas spirit.Read full review
