Purchased a 6-pack of these ionization type smoke detectors which is considered superior to the photocell type. Installed one above the door in each of the three bedrooms, the kitchen, downstairs family room, and the utility room which houses the furnace, water heater, and a small workshop. Installation was easy once I realized the wood header above each door required me to pre-drill a pilot hole for each mounting screw. The driving socket in each screw is a little shallow but with a well fitting bit and good pressure they drove with no problem. A premium battery designed for smoke detector use is supplied. Allowing 15 seconds for the electronics to wake up after installing the battery all functioned well. The alarm was quite loud and could be heard all over the house.
