  • Excellently Disturbing Read

This book would make a great horror film! ...But in all seriousness, the author's creative way of weaving together the dark side of fairy tales with the reality of a little boy's life during World War II is fabulous. I would recommend this book to older students and adults.

  • Lion, itch and the Tree Stump Door

The journey took the reader through a long series of tales that were originally Grimm. This was a little disappointing to me. The extended and expanded versions left me with a "why am I reading this re-make of childhood stories?"

  • Cannot put it down!!

I have read about half of this book. It is hard to find a book that keeps my interest or does not get boring. But this book it just keeps getting better!!

  • I always read John Connelly

I have followed John Connelly for awhile now and have always enjoyed his books. The book held my interest as with all of his books and I look forward to more of his books
