I really enjoyed the delightful audio CD with ten of Fred Astaire's songs from some of the best of his MGM Era musicals. This music is difficult, if not impossible, to find today in retail stores carrying CD or DVD media. I guess there just isn't a sustainable market in today's world for a generation that had little or no exposure to some of the great musicals of the Golden Age of American Cinema. It's interesting that no other single singer introduced as many songs in the first fifty or sixty years of American theater and classic films as Fred Astaire. He still holds the record among all of the singers of his performing generation(s). And it's remarkable that he originally introduced so many great popular songs because he was fundamentally a dancer and not a singer. But he was a singularly talented man who could do it all. The breadth of his career spanned more than a half-century in both England and America from the earliest 1900's right through his final film, "Finnian's Rainbow". The audio CD is a delightful collection of some of the best popular music ever written for the stage or film and performed by the BEST.Read full review
