I've been a Cartoon Network kid for a long time and one of my favorite specials to watch was the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy Halloween special "Jacked Up Halloween", where Jack (played by Wayne Knight) gets revenge to Endsville and Grim for his current predicament after he got a hand of Grim's scythe thanks to Billy. And while the episode has been released digitally, I wanted to get a physical DVD that has the episode. The only two DVDs Warner Bros released were the first season of Billy and Mandy and this DVD. I didn't want to get the season 1 boxset as it's only the first season and would've like to get the other seasons, which is very unlikely as WB doesn't give their shows proper treatment (the prices are another reason, but that's not counting if you have a lot of spending money). Plus because I live in a household that doesn't like morbid stuff, that was out of the line. So the other way was this DVD. The DVD was released in 2004 and starts out with the Jack episode as I mentioned before, but also other episodes from other cartoons. I bought it around 2018 after doing some online gigs The only issue I have is the range of episodes. Some of them like the Courage episodes I can let it slide as that show was very dark and the Johnny Bravo/Scooby-Doo crossover as Scooby-Doo is about people catching people in costumes, but the issue is that some aren't really either Halloween or scary related. I think it would've worked better if they picked out better episodes from the catalog they had at the time. And I know there's some shows that either didn't aired yet or didn't had a Halloween episode by the time the DVD came out, but still, a better selection of episodes would've been nice. I heard that they did more DVDs like this later on with other shows, so they're learned their lesson by this point. So if want to obtain this certain episode of Billy and Mandy because you're a fan of Jack O' Lantern (like me), or just want a collection of Cartoon Network episodes to show off your kids on what the network was like during the first 10 years, then this is a good start.Read full review

Hi! The Cartoon Network Halloween DVD (9 Creepy Cartoon Capers) is touted as CN's first Halloween collection of episodes from its various popular cartoon series. It opens with the episode "Billy and Mandy's Jacked up Halloween" special. In this gem, Grim and kids face the perils of Jack'o Lantern's vengeance for Grim's act of giving Jack immortality, but taking Jack's head in the bargain centuries ago. (Jack makes do with a carved pumpkin for a head.) Jack's history and crimes of tom foolery are revealed -- so the viewer understands why Jack wants to chop Grim's head off.(Seems Grim's magical scythe would permanently part Grim's skull from his body, if so employed.) This is a very good episode, well worth the DVD alone. Next epi: Johnny Bravo hooks up with the Scooby-Doo gang to discover where Johnny's missing Aunt has got to. This is a wonderful (and short) cross over of TV series (even a brief cameo of Speed buggy is included.) The fun is notched up a lot by many "in-jokes" ("Isn't 'Jinkies' a breakfast cereal?" Johnny asks.)It's also nice to see Velma have the eyes for Johnny, and we are left to ponder exactly "what" Fred and Daphnie are doing (hint-hint) while everyone else runs from a ghostly gardener. Another infamous "Eds" cartoon ("Dawn of the Eds")is in this collection. The cul-de-sac mayem of re-enacting a super robot Sci-Fi spectacular captures the boys' imaginations. (With the Kanker sisters making an appearance, and most of the action happening in the local junkyard.) "Boogie Frights", a PowerPuff Girls adventure, pits the mighty munchkins against monsters under the bed. Ghosts and ghouls from the local underworld haunted disco -- help the Boogie man send a monstrous disco-ball (the size of the Star Wars Death-Star) to blot out the sun over Townsville forever. Of course, no PPG episode is complete without a little fatherly advice everyone can use. There are two episodes of "Courage the Dog" on this DVD: The "Demon Under The Mattress", and "Courage meets Big Foot." There are food fights staged, haunted bedding, and mobs of peasants brandishing lit torches and farm implements. A take off of the Exorcist and Dracula, and monterous children are involved. "Dexter's Laboratory" is represented in this collection. In this one, Dexter suffers from school Picture Day dorkiness -- until he decides to perform plastic surgery upon himself. The results are fantastic -- until a few hot lamps do some damage. The theory that glasses makes one 'Super Intelligent', is insanely explored in the episode of "Cow and Chicken" on the disk. But no costume (or cartoon) is complete without fudging on eye exams, or Super Cow's appearance. There is also one "I Am Weasel" cartoon (titled: I Am Vampire") which presents Weasel and Baboon as vampire bats, and an appearance by the "Red-Guy" as a vampire hunter. I primarily wanted this disk for the all important Billy and Mandy episode and the witty Johnny Bravo episode. If the disk is bought for the Little Ones in your family, be assured this DVD is perfectly "For All Ages", with nothing to scare, but plenty to laugh at. I rate this disk Top Notch. -- DougRead full review
This is just an alright set of Cartoon Networks classic shows, Most of the episodes on this disc are pretty good, but I wasnt a fan of Cow and Chicken or I Am Weasel, But some of these episodes were pretty good Like the Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy episode, The Powerpuff girls and the dexters laboratory episode, but the episdoes from Courage the cowardly dog on this dvd were some of my least favorite. 3/5
This is one dvd that you must add to your collection. A gut busting dvd that will keep you laughing all day long. This is one you must get.
