This long out-of-print book was compiled from the author's other material; at least I had seen some of the drawings in other sources. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, since it would cost a good deal more to obtain all the material any other way. The art work is very good, providing painting and marking details for the mounts of many famous pilots, as well as more generic paint schemes. Proportions and details of the various craft appear accurate. Mr Gunston was highly regarded at the time for his research and reproduction of his findings, and the reputation was well deserved. In some rare instances, recently discovered information and photographs, particularly from the former Soviet Union and its satellites, may warrant corrections to the material in this book, but it is quite useful as a general reference. In this case, the price also was very favorable.Read full review
