John Carpenter (ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, THE THING) redefines the horror genre with this breakout shocker about an escaped mental patient who begins his reign of terror with a determined psychiatrist (Donald Pleasence) close behind. There is nothing I could say about HALLOWEEN except it is masterpiece of horror that works on many levels of chilling suspense accompanyied with Carpenter's signature creepy score. HALLOWEEN terrified not only horror fanatics, but broke new ground in the genre itself influencing the FRIDAY THE 13TH and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series, along with an avalanche of imitation blood-spattering gorefests. The film's massive success spawned seven sequels, a 2007 remake, along with its far-fetched sequel. But my advice would be is to stick with The One, The Only...HALLOWEEN. DIVIMAX EXTRAS INCLUDE: Audio commentary by Carpenter, producer Debra Hill, and Jamie Lee Curtis, HALLOWEEN-A CUT ABOVE THE REST documentary, ON LOCATION-25 YEARS LATER featurette, talent bios, poster and still galleries, trailer, & TV and radio spots.Read full review
The "Halloween 25th Anniversary Edition" DVD is a great buy. It came packaged, brand new and is a total bargain. The movie has been "cleaned up" digitally so that the picture is clear and brilliant. There is an extra DVD of special footage explaining a lot about how this horror classic was made. An exceptional bargain and a great addition to any DVD library. Its well worth the $$ for the purchase, because of the clarity of the film and all the extra features. Its the disturbing images in the movie that provide the "scare" factor, along with the creepy music and over-acting teenagers. If you've never seen it you should. Its really scary.
Best Halloween Movie ever! Lots of special features & behind the scenes of how John Carpenter a master horror film director with the 25th anniversary edition looks better then the 35th anniversary blu ray edition! DiviMax looks better in my opinion!

Before a murderous mama's boy sporting a hockey mask discovered his calling in the afterlife was dismembering hapless horny teens, there was an equally mindless psychopath spawned who got his kicks out of slicing up babysitters & citizens in his hometown of Haddonfield. Halloween was not only the milestone of John Carpenter's career: it was a seminal stepping stone to the slasher genre. Often imitated but never replicated, Carpenter crafted a film thick on atmosphere, minimal on gore & introduced the world to an unforgettable horror icon: Michael Myers, a jumpersuit wearing maniac with a fetish for spraypainted William Shatner masks (seriously) & butcher knife wielding.
Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis star in John Carpenter's 1978 horror film. A doctor hunts an escaped killer who stalks a babysitter and her friends. I love this film and this is the 3rd dvd version I've bought. The color timing on some scenes is a little different, but not to worry, the picture and sound are great plus there's neat extras. This is a good set, but I hope we get a definitive dvd someday because this has been re-released enough times.
