I was fairly easy to install except for the clip hooks. They were so stiff that no one could compress them to clip them onto to the hoop. We had to search out some pliers and a man to use them to get them onto the hoop. In the future we are going to have to find a way to make the hooking system more agreeable to a ladies fingers. But all in all it is a wonderful system. We did have to drill four tiny holes in the base of our existing hanging feeder for the hooks that suspend the hoop which are quite substantial and hold quite well even in the strongest winds. The birds were afraid of it at first but learned quickly how to use it.

This is a great concept, but, in the Oklahoma winds it is useless. The hooks do not stay in place and the bottom platform tilts and all the lost feed falls to the ground. If you do not have a lot of wind or more stable hooks, it would be a great saver of lost bird seed or feed.

Even though we had to tweak the design of the hoop it works very well and glad we purchased them. The screen hoop is very durable but the string cords that are provided to attach it to the feeder had to be replaced with cooper wire. Some of the birds peck at the cords with their beaks and we worried it would break dropping seeds all over the place. Some birds got a little tangled in the cords, leaving the hoop very lopsided. We also feared a tangled up bird could injure his wings. The copper wire also keeps it straight since it does not have any slack to it like the string cords. The best thing about this hoop is the amount of bird seed you will save, it is sooo amazing! We used to have to fill up the feeder once or more time a day; Not anymore! One tip though, don't fill the bird feeder to the top because the birds will dump it all out onto the hoop causing it to sag and could break under all that weight of seed, especially if the seeds get rained on. We only fill the feeder about 1/5th of the way which then only leaves a small amount of seed on the hoop which the birds finish that day or the next. We cant get over how much bird seed this saves us; Definitely worth buying!!! Would be five stars if they used metal instead of the cords they supply. Read full review

Saves enough seed to pay for itself in one year. It "catches" seed which would normally fall to the ground, attracting squirrels who eventually figure out the "source" of food and attack the main feeder. Larger birds (Cardinals, doves, red-wings, etc.) feed on seed in the basket, leaving the main feeder for smaller songbirds. Catcher lasts a long time. I've bought three over the years, but my first one, now six years old, is still in use. The fancy hanging cords are basically useless. Best to just throw away the spring-loaded adjustment "clips" and tie knots in the supplied cord. Use four cords, adjusting length so that basket hangs level about 9" below main feeder.

This screen seed catcher is large enough to catch all the seeds the birds spill out, it's easy to clean and has long cords that you can adjust to suit your needs. I've bought 4 of these over the years and highly recommend them.
