I used this book to study for the AYA PLT 2 hours before I took the test. I had no idea what to expect and this book helped me immensely. I don't know if I passed yet since I just took it last week, but I feltvery positive afer taking the test. It was laud out exactly how this book said it would be and I got great ideas for answers from reading the sample tests. It showed me how in depth (or rather how simple) the answers needed to be and how difficult the Multiple choice could be. I think this book was very helpful, especially in comparison of other study guides I have used.
I decided to buy this book to help me prepare for the Praxis Teaching Exam, but this book was very little help. It has some terms and some explanations, but is, on the whole, incomplete and poorly organized. Kern references such things as Bloom's Taxonomy and the Likert Scale, but has no definition or explanations for either of these terms. In addition, there were typos in the book, she uses a strange first person voice occassionally, and she seems to have confused several of the terms. In the practice tests (which are worded very oddly,) she tells you to "see Chapter 8 for a better explanation." Well, there is no chapter 8. Unbelievably, there is also NO index and NO glossary. A shabby attempt at a test manual. Absolutely not recommended.
This is very useful material!
